Wright, Alexander M., “Alec”, age 25 of Springboro passed away Saturday, January 2, 2020. He was preceded in death by his infant brother Daniel, paternal grandparents Jack and Rosie Wright, and maternal grandmother Ruth Howe. Alec is survived by his parents, Randy and Sue Wright; sister Kristin; brothers Andrew and Joshua, paternal grandfather Frank Howe and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Alec attended Bishop Leibold School from Kindergarten through 8th grade, where he enjoyed playing soccer, even going to the state tournament during one season. Alec loved math and science, advancing to the State Science Fair in Columbus during his 7th and 8th grade years.
Alec joined Cub Scouts in 2nd grade and crossed over to be a founding member of a new Boy Scout Troop 248 started at St. Henry Church. He continued his participation in Boy Scouts during his junior high and high school years, attending two high adventure trips. Alec and his father spent a week of wilderness canoeing and camping in the Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario Canada in 2010. In the summer of 2012, Alec joined 30 other Scouts participating in a 10-day high adventure of rafting and hiking in Denali High Adventure Base in Alaska. The pinnacle of his Scouting career was achieved in May 2013 when he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Alec was always extremely thankful for the mentoring and guidance he received from all the dedicated scout leaders who guided him through his scouting career.
In 2013, Alec graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School where he enjoyed playing on the tennis team. Alec’s closest friendships were formed during his senior Kairos experience. He went on to lead two additional Kairos retreats prior to his graduation. He was also a part of the St. Henry high school youth group and was fortunate to attend a Marianist LIFE week retreat which helped him form amazing friendships with kids from all over the country and deepen his faith.
Alec attended the University of Cincinnati for his freshman year where he studied Engineering and joined Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Discovering that finance was truly his passion, Alec decided to leave his engineering studies at UC and attend Sinclair College before transferring to Wright State University. While working nearly full time at Fossil, and then Sperry, at the Monroe Outlet Mall, Alec earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance in May 2019. He continued to work in retail, enjoying interacting with customers while determining what his next steps might be.
Like most families in 2020, we spent lots of time together and Alec was a great help in many projects around the house. We will treasure our memories of family time at the lake cabin and spring breaks in Florida. Alec will be forever in our hearts until we meet again in heaven.
