Schmitz, Barbara Sue (née Wenzel), 74, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on Monday, November 9. A graduate of Julienne High School, Barbara was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose passion was, quite simply, her family.
A devout Catholic, she and her husband were founding parishioners of St. Francis in Centerville and St. Joan of Ark in Powell, Ohio. A tireless advocate for the rights of the unborn, she spent countless hours volunteering her time to Birthrite of Columbus. She enjoyed cooking, arts & crafts entertaining for the holidays, and spoiling her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Veronica and John T. Wenzel, Sr., her mother and father-in-law Helen and Jerome B. Schmitz; her brother, John T. Wenzel, Jr., and brother-in-laws Robert H. Musselman and Louis W. Clark III.
She is survived by her husband, Jerome E. Schmitz of Kettering, her son Jerome T. Schmitz of Los Angeles, her daughter and son-in-law Molly and Bryan Bardine of Kettering, her son and daughter-in-law Michael A. and Tracie Schmitz of Delaware, Ohio, her four grandchildren, Katherine Bardine, Allison Bardine, Kyle Schmitz and Kiera Schmitz; her sisters Mary Ann Musselman of North Reddington Beach, Florida and Sarah W. Clark of Huntsville, Alabama; sisters and brother-in-laws Janet Simon, Mary & Richard Brown, Barbara and Clarence Sech, Margaret and Steven Bernard, Helen Schmitz and Kathleen and John Hupman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, November 17,10:30am at St. Charles Borromeo in Kettering. The family will greet friends just prior to the Service, beginning at 9:30am. Final resting place will be Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider The Sisters of Notre Dame of Cincinnati or Birthrite International of Columbus (envelopes will be available at St. Charles).
