Barbara Ann Zakanycz

Zakanycz, Barbara Ann (Janecke), of Las Vegas, age 79, passed peacefully on August 31, 2016. She was born October 12, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio and was the beloved daughter of Alex and Marie (Aldora) Janecke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen. Barbara leaves a daughter, Teresa, son, Paul, his wife Dawn, two grandchildren, Christina and Jonathan, two step grandchildren, Rusty and Casey and sister, Judy Cathers. Barbara graduated from Roosevelt High School in Dayton and took numerous college courses. She traveled extensively throughout the US and the world. She loved trying new foods, desserts, and reading detective novels. She enjoyed football especially Ohio State and watching script Ohio. Barbara’s biggest joys were being a wife, mother and grandmother. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00am Friday at St. Peter Church in Huber Heights. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-7pm at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to www.brainsupportnetwork.org in memory of Barbara.
