FLYNN, Bernadette Mary “Bernie”, age 84, of Centerville passed into the loving arms of the Lord on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. She gracefully lost a brave and brief battle with cancer after a long and beautiful life.
Bernie was born in Manannha Twp., Eden Valley, Minnesota on January 23, 1934 to the late George and Rose (Kramer) Hahn, and was the youngest of eight children.
She was married to Jim Flynn in 1960, and settled in Miamisburg. She is survived by her three children; Michele (Steve) Sandstrom, Jacki Flynn, Kevin (Stephanie “Taffy”) Flynn.
She enjoyed a long and successful career in the retail industry, including decades with Donenfeld’s, as well as Imposters and The Secret Ingredient. Her true passion for her work, for people and especially for helping others, left a memorable impression on every person she touched.
Bernadette was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, and spending time with her grandchildren was perhaps her greatest joy. She is survived by three grandchildren; Blake and Amanda Sandstrom, and Taylor Flynn.
Bernie faithfully attended St. Henry’s Parish and was a member of the rosary group. She lived her life as a humble servant of God. She truly lived as she believed: a genuinely kind and loving person with a Christian heart. Her warmth, smile and inner light brightened the lives of everyone who knew her.
Preceding her in death are her sisters, Evelyn Yanish, Rita Buis and brother, George Hahn Jr.; she is survived by siblings, Jean Peterson, Esther Strode, Teri Rose, Larry Hahn.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, February 13th at St. Henry Catholic Church, 6696 N. Springboro Pike, Dayton, Ohio 45449. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 with Fr. Ron Combs officiating. Interment will be at the mausoleum at David’s cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to The Westbrock Funeral Home, Kettering.
