Betty Jane "Honey" Hockey

BETTY JANE “HONEY” HOCKEY, age 93, of New Carlisle, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024 in Vancrest of New Carlisle. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on July 16, 1931, the daughter of Clyde and Beratha (Preston) Gates.

Betty retired from General Motors’ Inland Division after many years. For 93 years, she enjoyed living her life to the absolute fullest and loved traveling the world with her family, friends and beloved husband, Frank. While out and about, Betty was a social butterfly but took solace in her quiet time at home. 

Betty leaves behind her grandson, David Steinbrugge; granddaughter, Christine (Kevin) Krimm; grandson, Joey Baker; great-grandchildren, Tiffany (Henry), Kristin, Tyler, Cheyenne; great-great grandchildren, Dallan, Tucker and Troy; son-in-law, Larry Baker, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Frank R. Hockey; daughters, Brenda Steinbrugge and Debra Baker; granddaughter, Darlene Steinbrugge; sisters, Frances Johnson, Mona Gates and Evelyn Fischer; brother, Clyde Gates.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 11:30am-12:30pm in the WESTBROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1712 Wayne Avenue, Dayton. A celebration of Betty’s life will begin at 12:30pm. Betty will be laid to rest in the Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery next to her beloved Frank.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton or SICSA.
