Betty Ann Behringer Perkins, age 95, of Centerville passed away Saturday, December 30th. A Dayton native, she held a Masters Degree in History from the University of Dayton where she taught for seventeen years and helped to establish the Women’s Studies program which she directed from 1971-1984. She also headed U.D.’s Title IX evaluation process. She was active in the Centerville Historical Society and chaired the Centerville Historical Commission from 1992-2000. A founding member along with her husband of Incarnation Parish in Centerville, she remained an active member and a generous contributor to many and varied charities. She was married to Robert J. Perkins for 72 years.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; her daughters, Kathleen and Barbara Perkins and Lynn Brumfield; her sons, Douglas (Sue), Gregory (Debra), Jeffry (Monica) and Matthew; her brother, Rev. William Behringer S.M.; her grandchildren, Erin Bohn (Tom), Chris, David (Erica), Mark, Stephen, and Drew Perkins, and Maria LaFord (Christian); and her great grandchildren, Caroline, Carter, Lauren and Ethan Bohn, Jane, Katarina, and Owen Perkins, Tristin, Amelia and Jamie LaFord. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jeffrey Perkins and her son-in-law, Jeffrey Brumfield.
Visitation will be held at the Church of the Incarnation in Centerville, Ohio on Tuesday, Jan. 2nd at 10am with Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11am. The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions are made to the Robert J. and Betty Ann Perkins scholarship at the University of Dayton or to a charity of your choice.
