Sullivan, Betty (Donner), age 97, of Tipp City Ohio and Ft. Myers Florida, born December 19, 1920, passed away on February 23, 2018.
The daughter of the late Carl and Greta Donner, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years William Sullivan, and brother Richard Donner. Survived by her daughter Patricia “Tish” (David) Schrader of Englewood, grandchildren David Jr. (Rhenee) Schrader of Waynesville, Laura (Michael) Eaton of Cincinnati, Andrea (Jay) Peterson of Tipp City, and great grandchildren Seth and Skyler Schrader, and Jack, Dylan and Abigail Peterson.
Betty was born in Detroit and lived in Indianapolis for several years before her family settled in Dayton. She was a 1938 graduate of Fairview High School. Married William in 1944 and worked as a cost accountant for Delco Products until the birth of their daughter.
An accomplished artist, while in high school she was involved in the design of the first stained glass window installed at Fairview H.S., followed by many years as an active member of the Dayton Society of Painters and Sculptors, Dayton Tri-Arts and the Dayton Women’s Club. She continued to paint and to teach painting classes well into her nineties.
She was instrumental in the development of what eventually became the Officer’s Spouses Club at WPAFB, served on the board of the Buckeye Trails Girl Scouts Council, was a member of Second Church of Christ Scientists, a lifetime member of the John Purdue Club and a lifelong member of the philanthropic sorority PEO.
She enjoyed camping, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, traveling around the country and the world, and spending the winters at her second home in Ft. Myers, Florida.
Visitation
will be held from 11:00-12:00 pm, Tuesday February 27 at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 1721 Wayne Ave, Dayton Ohio, followed by a brief service 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial at Woodland Cemetery.
