Brett Edward Hodge, “Steelman”, Born 02/17/1961 died 05/15/2024, 63 years old. Brett was born, raised and lived his entire life in Dayton, OH and passed away after a 2 ½ year courageous battle with cancer.  Brett attended Corpus Christi Catholic grade school graduating in 1975 and Graduated from Chaminade-Julienne High School in 1979.  He was the biggest Pittsburgh Steeler fan as awarded by a local Dayton radio station, he also loved the UD Flyers basketball, buckeyes football and Cincinnati Reds.  Brett is preceded in death by his mother Gail Bokoske Carter and father Jim Hodge, his maternal grandparents Joseph and Helen (Powers) Bokoske, paternal grandparents Tom and Ethel (Garrett) Hodge, uncles Clyde Hodge, Joseph “Bo” Bokoske, Jr. and close childhood friend Jack Mencsik.  Brett is survived by his sister Kim Hodge, aunt Bernice “Bern” Hodge, step mother Doris Hodge and cousin Brenda Cheeseman, and also a core group of life long friends who were with him throughout his cancer battle and during his final moments, as well as his Dayton Polish Club family and all of his Steeler Nation family.

His family and friends would like to thank the caregivers at Kettering Medical Oncology, the doctors, nurses and staff at Kettering Hospital 5th floor east wing and the doctors, nurses and staff at Dayton Hospice Wilmington Ave.  A very special thank you to Dodie Creech for all the compassion and care she provided to Brett throughout the years.

A private burial will be held at a later date, and a celebration of Brett’s life will be held in the fall at the Dayton Polish Club during a Steelers football game.
