Greco, Bruno Francis was born on November 2nd 1930 in Sernaglia della Battaglia, Italy. He moved to America after serving in the Italian ski patrol to attend Catholic University in Washington, D.C. where he met his wife of 58 years, Rita. Bruno was a devout Catholic and belonged to St. Charles Borromeo Parish. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, teacher, and friend and was loved and respected all who met him. He worked for many years at NCR as a lab technician, but his real passion was language. He taught Italian for many years at Rosewood Arts Center and St. Albert and was an avid conversationalist who spoke three languages. Bruno loved working in his yard and in his garage. He loved reading the classics, singing, and playing the harmonica. Most of all, Bruno was a family man and loved spending time with his family whom he loved very much. He will be remembered as a vivacious storyteller, jovial prankster, and warm hearted man who could befriend anyone.
Bruno is preceded in death by parents Luigi and Angela Greco, brother Felice Greco, and son Mark Greco. Bruno will be missed and remembered by; wife: Rita (Gibboney) Greco; siblings: Lino and Terrasina Greco, Maria Agnese (Greco) and Gianni Mazzero; children: David and Pam Greco, Marisa (Greco) and Tom Varney, Sharon (Greco) Smith, Angela Greco, and Patrick and Natalia Greco; grandchildren: Andrea and Matt Velasquez, Michaela (Greco) and Tommy Spijkers, Caitlin Smith, Nina Varney, Kevin Greco, Mary Claire Greco, Michael Varney, Daniel Smith, Tony Smith, Olivia Greco, Bruno Greco, and Sasha Greco; great grandchildren: Mariela and Liliana Velasquez along with 26 nieces and nephews.
Bruno died peacefully surrounded by his family at Hospice of Dayton on June 19, 2018. Visitation will be held at Westbrock Funeral Home in Kettering Friday, June 22nd from 5pm-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am Saturday June 23 at St. Charles Borromeo Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
