KHABBAZ, CARLOS F., 83, of Kettering, Ohio died June 28, 2010. He is
survived by his devoted and loving wife of 44 years, Helen Mayes; his
three daughters: Carla Khabbaz of Denver, Julie Khabbaz-Marks of Tampa,
and Ann Khabbaz of Boulder. Carlos has three grandchildren; Miles
MacNichol, Julianne MacNichol and Natalie Marks; and son-in-laws,
Matthew Marks and Jeep MacNichol. Also surviving are numerous nieces
and nephews in the US and Lebanon, as well as a Dr. Issam Minkarah of
Cincinnati who was a life-long friend from the Boys School of Tripoli.

Carlos was born in Manaus, Brazil and immigrated to Lebanon with his
mother at the age of 10. He attended schools in Lebanon and Iran.
After graduating from Tripoli Boys School in Lebanon, he immigrated to
the US and was inducted into the US Army where he served in the Korean
War and received his US citizenship. Upon completion of his service,
he went on to attend the University of Cincinnati School of Pharmacy
and graduated in 1962. Carlos served the Dayton community for 33
years as a pharmacist before retiring in 1995.

Carlos lived a full life and was passionate about his family, friends
and faith. He loved to cook and entertain, and play cards. He was a
jovial soul and always enjoyed making others laugh. He was an avid
gardener and fisherman. His unique heritage and life experiences
afforded him fluency in five languages. He traveled often to Lebanon
to visit his extended family and to indulge his passion for the
country and the Mediterranean Sea. In 2005, Carlos and Helen traveled
to Brazil to visit the place of his birth and baptism.

He is preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Abraham, Joseph,
Julio, Maliki, Faye and Maria as well as his parents; Khalil and Wahiba.

Visitation will be held, Thursday, July 1st from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road, Kettering. Mass of Christian Burial will take place, 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 2nd at St. Francis of Assisi Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to: Hospice of Dayton, St. Ignatius Maronite Church, 5915 Springboro Pike, Dayton 45449 or St. Francis of Assisi Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville 45459.
