Celeste Hope Glen, 11 weeks old, left this world and went to her eternal reward in heaven with Jesus on January 13, 2022.
Celeste was born on October 27, 2021, to Matt and Alicia (Shilkitus) Glen in Dayton OH and was baptized and confirmed that same night. She was born with significant health conditions and was expected to live less than a week. Despite the odds, she went home to her large, active, and faith-filled family the next day.
Celeste Hope was named so that all those who knew her or prayed for her may have a greater hope in heaven through her. Praise God for choosing Celeste for this special mission and for choosing her family to love her and be blessed by her saintly presence for so long! “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Celeste was blessed to meet many members of her family and community in the two short months before she went to heaven. She touched the lives of people across the country and produced a veritable storm of prayers. Although she was born with only half of her heart working, she has only known perfect love – she received pure, unconditional love from her family and all those who met her here on earth and now she basks in the perfect love of Jesus Christ. Rest assured that, now in heaven, Celeste is fervently praying for all of those who loved her and prayed for her during her short life on earth.
She is survived by her parents, Matthew and Alicia, seven siblings, Peter, Catherine, Alex, Cecilia, Matthew, Paul and Luke, all at home. Her paternal grandparents are Bruce and Peggy Glen of Roy, Utah; and maternal grandparents, Frank and Dolores Shilkitus of Warminster, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her aunts, uncles and cousins.
Celeste's eternal life will be celebrated at a Funeral Mass on January 20th, 2022 at The Church of the Incarnation in Centerville (55 Williamsburg Ln, Dayton, OH 45459) at 10:30 am. We will proceed immediately to the burial at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton. The viewing will be January 19th, 2022, from 6 - 8 pm at Westbrock Funeral Home (5980 Bigger Rd, Kettering, OH 45440).
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Chesterton Academy of St. Joseph, a new joyful high school rooted in the Catholic faith, 371 Yankee Trace Dr, Centerville OH 45458.
