Clarence Vincent Schock lived a full and rewarding life. He was born on March 3, 1928 and died unexpectedly at his home early in the morning on February 21. He is now united with his departed loved ones and with his "True Father" in heaven. Predeceased in death by his sister Elizabeth (Robert) Grusenmeyer and in-laws Paul (Dorothy), Rosemary, and (Donna) Jeckering, and (Eugene) Bochenek. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rita and his sister Mary Bochenek, his 4 children, Larry (Cathy) Schock, Mary (Tom) DeMange, Ruth Schock and David(Valerie) Schock, 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Clarence treasured family, teaching his children much about life by his example and living life to the fullest. During his career, he was a master toolmaker who took great pride in his work and, in particular, developing the die that forms the "pop top" on most canned drinks today. Enjoying children immensely, his endeavors while in his younger years included: advising 4-H clubs in Greene County, welcoming foster children into their home, coaching soccer, basketball, football, and baseball at St. Anthony's, Ascension and Fairbrook, and actively volunteering his time and talents to the fund raising events with the Boosters in Beavercreek. After his children were grown, he and his wife enjoyed a full life with friends going to dances (he and Rita especially loved the polka music and traveled weekends to those dances), was actively involved in the Liederkranz and Eintraught, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Energetically involved as a member of Ascension Parish, his volunteer efforts included coaching youth, assisting with the festival in its construction and success, counting money at church, ushering during Mass, working Bingo, and donating his time, money, and effort to support the church that he and his wife dearly loved. In his retirement, he also developed a passion for woodworking, designing and constructing an entire kitchen cabinet arrangement for his home in Beavercreek, as well as, items for his kids. Clarence will always be remembered for his devotion to family, love of life and enjoyment of people. The family wishes a happy and enriching life for all. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 25 at 11:30 a.m. at Ascension Church. The family will greet visitors preceding the Mass at 9:30 a.m. at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Clarence's memory to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation or a donor of your choice.
