SCHMITZ, Cletus E. 'Skeeter' of Dayton OH passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born May 25, 1919 in Sharpsburg OH to William and Elnora (Ruschau) Schmitz. Cletus married Helen Schwieterman on October 19, 1946 in Burkettsville OH and moved to Dayton. Preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Joseph, and his brothers Werner (Rita), Gregory, Victor, Norbert (Cordula), Donald and sister Marcella (Albert) Knapke. Survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen, children David (Jeanette) Schmitz of Dayton, Jane (David) Stickel of Kettering and William (Christine Sistare) Schmitz of Perkasie, PA. Also surviving are grandchildren Lara Schmitz (Thomas Nelson Jr.) of Centerville, Andria Perez (Jorge) of Beavercreek, Matthew (Rebecca) Schmitz of Dayton, Jeffrey (Jessica) Stickel of Kettering, Jessica Stickel of Chicago IL, Hannah Schmitz of Philadelphia PA and Austin Schmitz of Perkasie PA, great grandchildren Alex and Audrey Nelson, Estrella Perez, Gavin, Brooklyn and Brayden Schmitz and Ella Stickel, brother and sisters-in-law Genevieve Schmitz of St. Henry OH, Merdella Schwieterman of Cranberry Prairie OH and Ivo and Maryann Schwieterman of Burkettsville OH. Cletus graduated from Fort Recovery HS in 1937. He served in England in the Army Air Corps during WWII and retired from Pitney Bowes (Monarch Marking) in 1983 after 37 years. He was a member of St. Anthony's Parish since 1954 and a Eucharistic Minister for 20 years. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 1 from 4-8 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave., Dayton OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 2 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 830 Bowen St., Dayton OH, preceded by prayer service at 9:30 at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Anthony's Parish.
