Constance Metzger

Metzger, Constance K., age 64 of Bellbrook, OH passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011 after a 4 year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born December 12, 1946, the daughter of William and Margaret (Gibson) Beach in Springfield, OH. Connie was a 1964 graduate of Springfield Catholic Central HS where she met Ed, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life. They married in August 1968 and shared a very happy 43 years together. Connie was a RN graduating 1st in her class at the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1967. She worked for 25 years in nursing, most recently at Far Oaks Orthopedics. She was a member of the Church of the Incarnation for over 30 years, where she lived a faith filled life. Connie was an avid gardener and belonged to the Transplant Garden Club. She was also an art and antique collector and enjoyed shopping for great deals. She was a relentless reader of books, sometimes reading 5 books in one week. Connie belonged to a special women's group called the "Card Club" where 10 women became best friends for the past 25 years and shared life's events, joys, sorrows and supported one another. Connie especially loved being a grandmother to her 2 grandchildren (her treasures). "Grammy" showered them with her love and affection. She spent many hours looking for special gifts to stock her Grammy Bag to present to them when she visited them in Denver. Connie brightened everyone with her warm personality, her loving, caring way and interest in people. She will be greatly missed by her husband, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret G. Beach. She is survived by her father, William J. Beach; her loving husband, Ed of 43 years; their children, Joseph (Cheryl) Metzger of CO, Teresa Metzger of CO, David (Terri) Metzger of PA, Two grandchildren, Madeline and Andrew Metzger of CO; sisters, Julie (Bill) Michel of Clayton, OH, Bonnie (Dale) Compton of Mechanicsburg, OH, Susie (Howard) of Cleveland, OH; brother, William G. (Sarah) Beach of Springfield, OH; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM, Monday October 24 at the Church of the Incarnation. The family will receive friends 2:00-6:00 PM Sunday at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd. Burial, Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Women's Cancer Support Group: The Noble Circle Project, PO Box 750192, Dayton, OH 45475. The family would especially like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Miami Valley Hospital Gynecological Center for their care during her 4 year battle with cancer. Thank you to all of our caring family and friends for their encouragement, love and support during Connie's very difficult battle with cancer. Connie was a fighter to the end and inspired her family and friends.
