They say when a butterfly flutters it's wings in a rainforest, the effects are felt across the world. What happens when a butterfly closes it's wings for the last time?
Sunday night a fragile butterfly closed her wings for the last time in Centerville, Ohio. It might not be felt across the whole world, but it certainly shook mine.
My mother Dana was no one special, and yet to me she was extraordinary.
She lived the life of an Army Brat, then married into the Air Force. While never staying in one place very long, she taught us girls how to be strong women, and caring mothers. She was incredibly smart, going back to school and getting her Business degree when she was 40. She was an excellent cook and I know my love of cooking and baking comes from helping her in the kitchen. I'm sure that my photographic skills also come from her. It was always a family joke to see how many rolls of film she would use during a vacation. She also loved to sing and dance. There were many times when we did dishes with the radio playing and all of us girls would be singing along.
