Darlene Armitage Wittman

WITTMAN, Darlene Armitage age 41, of Kettering, was a true warrior! She was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in February of this year. She continued to fight, never gave up and on November 1, 2015 she lost the final battle only because her body gave out but her spirit never did. Her primary concern was always her 3 boys, Adam, Sean and Ryan. Darlene and her twin were born on September 5, 1974 to Shirley and David Wittman, the youngest of 6 children. Enjoying time with family and friends was a large part of her life. She taught all of us how to enjoy life and face challenges with strength, courage, grace and dignity. Her passing will leave a huge void in all our lives. With her she took that infectious smile that always lit up a room. To know Darlene was to love Darlene. She leaves to mourn; her father, David P. Wittman, siblings-Debbie Jones (Steve); David E. Wittman; Diane Blair (Bruce); Dawn Anguiano (Jose’); Deanna Baldwin (Larry) as well as 3 nieces, 8 nephews and 5 great-nephews, her grandmother Helen Couser, step-mom Marycarol Gee, step-dad Leo Fuller, aunt Ruth Goosman (Tom), uncles George and Paul Wittman, aunt Betty Mayor and uncle Tom Shadley, cousin George Wittman who has been like a brother to her for her entire life and many other cousins, too numerous to list. A host of good friends, especially Linda Burge and Julie Hansen and all who stood by her and saw her through the fight. Preceded in death by her mother Shirley Fuller and grandparents Paul and Mary Wittman and Edward Couser. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church in Dayton, Ohio. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 4-8:00 pm at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd, Kettering, Ohio. Please wear “Team Darlene” attire at the visitation (orange and purple). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Hospice of Dayton or The James Wexner Cancer Center-Hematology/Transplant Unit in Darlene’s memory.
