ENGEL, "Dave" (Paul David), age 79, of Kettering, passed away Saturday July 15, 2017. Dave was an auto mechanic who founded Engel's Automotive Service Inc., in 1971. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul H. and Margaret K.(Halpin)Engel, loving wife, Betty N.(Bratten)Engel (2006), and grandson, Austin Wallin (2017). He is survived by his loving wife Judy (Newport) Engel; daughter Deborah (George) Charbel of Bellefontaine, Oh.; son Gary (Angie) Engel of Dayton: daughter Tammy (Malvin) Wallin of Salt Lake City, Ut; grandchildren Rachael and Matthew Engel, David and Joseph Charbel, and Logan Wallin; and several close friends. Dave attended St. Anthony's elementary school and graduated from Chaminade High School, Class of 1956. Dave was a member of the Milton Athletic Club and the Shamrock Club. He participated in local drag and stock-car racing events throughout the 1950's and 60's and was an original founding member/President of the Road Knights of Dayton, car club. Dave was employed as an auto mechanic at Walker Brothers, Ohmer Park Shell, and was a heating and refrigeration technician with Gemin Heating and Air, prior to opening his own auto repair shop. Dave was a past president of the Miami Valley Quarter Midget Racing Association and was seasonally employed as a ski-school instructor at Mad River Mountain for 24 years. Prayer service 10:00 AM Thursday July 20th at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave., Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, burial Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday July 19th, from 4-7 PM.
