Dawson, David L., age 64, of Centerville, passed away on Mon., March 14, 2011. Dave was born on Aug. 5, 1946 in Piqua, Ohio to June and Keith Dawson. A graduate of Gettysburg High School and the University of Dayton with a BS in Electrical Engineering, Dave later earned both MEE and MBA degrees from the University of Dayton as well. Having served in the US Army and Ohio Army Guard, Dave retired as a LtCol from the US Air Force Reserve after 24 years of service. Dave worked many years at WPAFB as a system engineer and in program management, and served most enjoyably in the ARIA Program. After retirement from WPAFB, Dave started his quest as an entrepreneur. He was a former Vice President of the Centerville Rotary Club and was a member of the Agonis Club of Dayton. His love of sports included golf and UD basketball. Dave was preceded in death by his father, Keith, former mayor of Gettysburg, OH. Survivors include his mother, June, of Gettysburg; son Brian (Lynn) Dawson of Centerville; daughter Angie (Steve) Rhynard of Cleveland; grandchildren Kayla and Kyle Dawson, Nathan Rhynard; and his loving girlfriend of many years, Kathy Botti of Springfield. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday from 5-7pm at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road in Kettering. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Friday at Southminister Presbyterian Church in Centerville, with interment following at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Hospice of Dayton (324 Wilmington Ave.) or to the American Cancer Society
