David Pfeiffer

PFEIFFER, David L. 81, of Centerville passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born June 16, 1930. He graduated Chaminade High School, 1948, University of Dayton 1952, commissioned as 2nd lieutenant in the infantry, and served in the Korean war '52-53. He married Claire Ann Rosendahl on June 26, 1954. He was an active member of St. Rita's parish, St. Albert the Great parish, and Alter High School. Dave was in the Sporting Goods Industry for 46 years, having worked at Shroyer Sporting Goods, Brooks and Chappell, and then Tuffy Brooks Sporting Goods. He owned and operated Tuffy Brooks Sporting Goods from 1979 until he retired in 2000. He served on the board of the National Sporting Goods Association for several years and became the Chairman in 1985. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Claire Ann and four children: Craig (Cissy) Pfeiffer of NY, Lauren (Gary) Childs of MI, Julie Pfeiffer of Cincinnati, Tim (Susan) Pfeiffer of Colorado, five grandchildren: Austin (Erin) Pfeiffer, Haley (Mike) Katz, Drew, Ally, and Sam Pfeiffer and many nieces and nephews, a sister, Mary (Emery) Csizma of Dayton, a sister-in-law, Sue Pfeiffer, a brother-in-law, Robert Menker, a brother-in-law, Warren G. Rosendahl; David was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence A. and Marjorie J. Pfeiffer, a sister, Sally Menker; two brothers, Robert and Thomas. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd where prayers will also be said 9:30 a.m. on Saturday prior to Mass. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. The Pfeiffer family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Home Instead, Kettering Memorial Hospital, and Hospice of Dayton for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dave's memory to Hospice of Dayton, UD, Chaminade-Julienne, or a charity of your choice.
