Strehle, Delores Lucille,
“Dee,” aged 88, passed surrounded by friends and family on Friday, January 6, 2017. Delores was born in Rubyville, Ohio to the late Virgil and Eva Madeline (Wymer) Adams. Delores was married for 66 years to the love of her life, Raymond Strehle (“Deep”). She is preceded in death by Raymond, as well as her brothers: Charles and Harold Richard. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria (David) Mattson of Mequon, WI; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian (Gina) Strehle of Cincinnati, OH; three grandchildren, Marc Macon, Alexander and Courtney Mattson; plus numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Delores was a Registered Nurse who spent her life taking care of others including a neighbor with cancer, her mother who lived with her before passing, and many patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and physicians' offices. While serving as a public health nurse, she aided many children living in abusive situations. She was a meticulous housekeeper and was the person you wanted to take care of you when you were sick. Delores had a wicked sense of humor that she wielded when least expected. She always had a twinkle in her eye and made even mundane things fun. She was an active member of Ascension Parish serving at funerals, helping with rectory maintenance, counting collection funds, and working at bingo events among other volunteer activities, and she was honored as the “Woman of the Year” at the parish. She loved traveling, spending time with friends, golfing, playing cards, and enjoyed going to the casinos in later life. After retiring, Dee and Deep extensively traveled throughout the country with their life-long friends. This included flying in a friend’s Piper Cub, a train trip out west, and a multi-week road trip. And of course, she attended nearly every activity any of her grandchildren were involved in. Friends and family may visit from 1:00-2:00PM at Church of the Ascension, 2025 Woodman Dr., Dayton, OH on Saturday, January 14. A Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow at 2:00PM. Delores will be laid to rest in Heritage Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Horizon Hospice, 1400 W. Lake Park Dr, Milwaukee, WI 53224. Envelopes will be available at the church. Arrangements by the Westbrock Funeral Home, Bigger Rd., Dayton, Ohio.
