Donald J. Frericks

FRERICKS, Donald J., age 81 of Bellbrook passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016. He was born on January 10, 1935 in Minster, Ohio to the late, Leo and Loretta (Busse) Frericks. Also preceding him in death was his brother, Tom Frericks. Don is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia (Ross); children, Margaret Frericks, Catherine (Brian) Fukada, Theresa (Tim) Black, Amy (Tim) Carlier, Donald Jr. (Kathleen) Frericks, Joseph (Jennifer) Frericks; 18 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; sister, Mary Jo Frericks and many other extended family, friends and colleagues. Don started his career in education at Chaminade High School where he also served as Athletic Director. After receiving his PhD in Education Don worked for the Ohio Department of Education in Columbus, Ohio. Since 1978 was a professor in the School of Education at the University of Dayton and later served as its Assistant Dean until his retirement. Friends and family may visit from 5-8 pm on Friday, July 8 at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave. A memorial mass will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, July 9 at the UD Chapel. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. As Don was a 61 years survivor of Juvenile Diabetes, we request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
