PORTER, Donald Joseph, 89, of Kettering, passed away peacefully on July 28th, 2018. Born on April 30th, 1929, he was the son of Emanuel and Gertrude Porter. Don graduated from St Gregory's Seminary in Cincinnati, Georgetown University and received his Masters at the University of Dayton. He was in the Air Force during the Korean War stationed in London, his favorite city. He started his professional career with NCR in the International Division and then went into private practice opening Don Porter Associates in 1973. As a Management Consultant for nearly 40 years, he traveled to over 100 countries for business and pleasure. In addition to traveling, Don loved Kentucky Horse Racing and Notre Dame Football but more importantly, he loved his children, Beth and Chris. They were his entire world and he made every possible effort to raise them in the Catholic Faith with an emphasis on education. Don was a patient, caring, faith-based man who always placed family first.
Don is survived by his two children, Elizabeth (Benjamin) of Johns Creek, GA and Chris (Victoria) of Richmond, VA; grandchildren Will, Sam & Christopher and siblings MaryJane Carroll of Orlando, FL Eugene (Gene) Porter of Englewood, Jack (Rev. John) Porter of West Milton and Nancy Denari of Carmel, IN
The family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road, Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Emmanuel Catholic Church, 149 Franklin Street, Dayton. Burial immediately following in Calvary Cemetery.
