RUHL, DONALD EDWARD, age 88, husband of Anna Marie (nee Spatz), died on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from natural causes. He was born on March 19, 1923 in Dayton to Clement and Cecilia Ruhl. Upon graduation from Chaminade High School, he enrolled at The University of Dayton Mechanical Engineering curriculum for two years, and then entered the Army, serving his tour in WWII, and following up with his final years at UD with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and attaining his Professional Engineer Certification. Don began his career in the Dayton area at Stanley Greeting Card Company, followed by Harris-Seybold (part of Harris Intertype) and then at Standard Register, where he retired as Corporate Equipment Engineer, overseeing the sale and installation of printing machines in the Midwest portion of the country. Don's hobbies included: tennis, woodworking and playing in the Kettering Civic Band for a number of years. He served as President of the University of Dayton Alumni Association and was a long standing member of the Board and served on the Calvary Cemetery Association Board. In retirement Don and Ann enjoyed travel throughout the US and overseas. In addition to his wife of 64 years, Anna Marie, he is survived by his daughters: Cindy Ruhl Haller of Houston, TX, Christine Cecilia Buescher and husband Dr. Stephen Buescher of Virginia Beach and Barbara Jeanne Ruhl of Kettering; 1 granddaughter, 4 grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters. Don was preceded in death by twin daughters and a beloved son-in-law, Daniel Haller. Visitation will be held, Friday, February 24th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road, Ketteirng. Mass of Christian Burial will take place, 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25th at St. Albert the Great Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave, Kettering. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
