FAY, Dorothy Aline, age 72, passed away August 13, 2014, in her home after a year long battle with cancer. Dot was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 28, 1942, the daughter of Jean M. Bonfig and Edwin Bonfig. She attended St Joseph’s high school, graduating in 1960. She attended nursing training and worked for several years in the medical field. Dot married John Fay in 1968 in Dayton, Ohio where they raised their family. She worked at Wright State University for nearly 20 years in the financial services and admissions departments before her retirement in 2005.Dot’s sense of humor and passion for life was contagious. Her empathy and love touched countless lives in times of joy and even more so in times of need. Dot has been an active member of Queen of Apostles Community for the past forty years. In her family, friends, and QAC, her love will continue to shine and grow.Dot is survived by her husband John, their children Jennifer Penick, married to Christopher Penick, and Matt Fay, married to Lori Fay. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jacob and Sarah Penick and Ian and Olivia Fay. Dot was preceded in death by her parents and Bonfig siblings Mary, Thomas, Kay, Jim, Robert, and Fran (Webster) and three nieces.
Visitation will be Monday, August 18th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 19th at Queen of Apostles Community, 4435 E. Patterson Road, Beavercreek 45430. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dayton at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in Dot’s name to Queen of Apostles, Social Justice Committee, 4400 Shakertown Road, Dayton, Ohio 45430 or in her name to a charity of your choice.
