Dorothy was born July 7, 1932 in Republic Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Henry and Ann Drews. She is survived by her son Drew, wife Joni Pringle, step son Greg, wife Nancy Shipman, step son Brian, wife Marilyn Shipman, 4 grandchildren, Garrett, Michael, Matthew, Rachel and 4 great grandchildren, Noah, Landon, Violet, and William. Dorothy graduated 2 years early from High School. She attended California University of Pennsylvania and received her degree in teaching. She taught for 18 years in the Uniontown Area School district, Kindergarten, first grade, and director of reading programs. She was widowed in 1969 from John Pringle. She finished her doctorate in 1973 from West Virginia University. Dorothy moved to Muncie, Indiana to work at Ball State University in 1973. She was director of reading programs in elementary education. There she met and married Charles Shipman. The Shipman's traveled extensively with friends. Dorothy was part of the US Schools of Excellence evaluation system, authored 3 text books on reading instruction, and was a requested speaker in numerous conferences and conventions. They were married 13 years when Charles passed away in 1991. Dorothy retired in 1992. She remained in Muncie and married Charles McGraw in 1993. Charles passed away in 2009. Dorothy moved to Dayton, Ohio in 2010 where she lived until her death on March 7, 2025. Services will be private for the family.
