E. Dwight Griswold

Griswold, E. Dwight, age 94, of Bellbrook, passed away Saturday January 21, 2017. Mr. Griswold was born in Lancaster, New York, to the late E. Dwight Griswold, Sr. & Leta Griswold. “Dwight” enlisted in the U.S. Army on 12-9-1941 where he served in the South Pacific theatre. He received his field commission in 1945 in the southern Philippines, and served an occupation duty in Tokyo. Mr. Griswold was a 1948 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and went to work for the Metropolitan Clothing Co. at Town & Country for 10 years. He then worked for NCR as a marketing specialist and retired after 31 years. He was very active at Christ United Methodist Church, Hithergreen Senior Center, and the Centerville Kettering Kiwanis Club. Dwight was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Marty. He is survived by his close friend, Fran Doster; a step-son, Doug & Patricia Flege; nieces, Marsha Adams and Cheryl & Ron Freeman; a son, Rick; and two daughters, Cindy and Jill. There will be a funeral service Wednesday at 1pm at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road. Burial will follow in David’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church.
