LOKAI, EDITH A., following a short illness passed away at age 90 on January 25, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born in Dayton on October 14, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Przybylski) Cichanowicz. She was married to Thomas Lokai on December 26, 1974 who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Kiser High School and a member of this country’s “Greatest Generation.” During WWII, she served on the home-front in a civilian capacity at WPAFB where she continued her career for over 30 years. She was proud of her Polish heritage and the “Old North Dayton” neighborhood where she lived most of her life. Although she had no children, her love and compassion were felt by all persons that came to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, Tom and siblings: Joseph Cichanowicz and Theresa Piekutowski. She is survived by her brothers: Henry (Margaret) Cichanowicz of Osprey, FL, Ed (Pat) Cichanowicz of Dayton, Stan (Chris) Cichanowicz of Mansfield, OH and Chuck Cichanowicz of West Lafayette, IN. In addition, she will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends. Visitation will be Friday, January 31st from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave., Dayton. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 1st at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Dayton. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
