Edward Bolton

Edward James Bolton, age 79, died Friday, September 10, 2010.

Ed was a native Daytonian, born in 1931. He graduated from Chaminade High School in 1949 and graduated from University of Dayton in 1954. Upon graduation from UD, he went to Europe with the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant Army Infantry Officer. During Ed's two years in the Army, he developed many lifelong friendships and attended Army reunions all over the country. Upon his return to the States, he worked as a field representative for GMAC where he met his wife, Marilyn Eaton, whom he married in 1958. Ed worked for Burroughs Corporation for six years and then opened his own company Express Business Forms, as a manufacturer's representative specializing in printed business forms for the credit union, banking, and insurance industries. During this time, Ed and Marilyn had 4 children, a son Christopher, who graduated from University of Dayton, and three daughters, Kathy, Julie, and Marienne, who all graduated from Miami University of Ohio.

Ed was a great lover of all things mechanical. He refurbished vintage automobiles, and owned a series of his favorite cars-the Cadillac. He was happiest when he was fixing, polishing, or tinkering with some sort of car or boat and loved driving his classic cars in the Holiday At Home Parade. He and Marilyn took many houseboat and leisure trips with their longtime circle of friends, "The Boat People". Ed believed in Catholic education, and actively supported his alma mater Chaminade High School, his children's High School, Alter, and was a University of Dayton Golden Flyer.

Ed was preceded in death by his mother and father, Hilda and Louis Bolton, his oldest brother Lou Bolton, and Lou and Millie's daughter, MaryLou Bolton; his brother Don Bolton and his wife Charlotte. He will be missed by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn, his son Christopher, daughter Kathy and husband Ken Abbott, daughter Julie and husband Jerry Schweickart, and daughter Marienne Bolton, and two of his favorite people, his granddaughters: Emily Lusenhop of Burlington, Vermont, and Trixie Abbott of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Wheeler and husband, Bill, and his sister in law, Millie Bolton, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation Tuesday, September 14th from 4-7:00 pm at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd, Kettering. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 15th at St. Henry's Catholic Church at 6696 Springboro Pike.
