Effie M. Minham

Minham, Effie M. age 89, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, on February 22, 1925, the daughter of Najib and May Minham, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers Elias, Victor, and Joseph Minham, a sister Helen (Minham) Zaidain, three brothers-in-law Paul B Dorsten, Leon J. Zaidain, and Harold A Reifsnyder, and a sister-in-law Sarah (Lander) Minham. Effie was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt, cousin, and friend. Effie is survived by two sisters Mary (Minham) Dorsten and Josephine (Minham) Reifsnyder, 13 nieces, 11 nephews, 19 great-nieces, 10 great-nephews, six great-grand-nieces, four great-grand-nephews, plus two on the way. She was known as Aunt Effie to all who knew her.
Effie graduated grade school from Emmanuel in 1939, Julienne High School in 1943, and Miami Jacobs in 1956. She was a life-long member of Emmanuel Catholic Church and a founding member of the Legion of Mary.
Effie volunteered with the Victoria Theater and the Schuster Center for 25 years and was a team captain. She also volunteered at St. Ignatius of Antioch Maronite Catholic Church, and the World A’ Fair. She was employed as office manager with The Viking Tool and Die Company.
She was an avid fan of the University of Dayton Flyers. From the time the brothers would sneak her into the old U.D. Fieldhouse until the end of her life, Effie remained a dedicated FLYER FAITHFUL FAN.
Mass of Christian Burial Saturday January 17, 2015, at Emmanuel Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9-10am at the Church.
