GMEINER, Betty (Mauch) of Dayton, Ohio. Age 90, went on to sing with a higher choir on December 26, 2012. She is survived by her five children, Kathleen Gmeiner, Mary Sue Gmeiner, Mark (Ruth) Gmeiner, Julie (Ed) Brooks of Illinois, and Tom (Jayne Lachey) Gmeiner; eight grandchildren, Beth Livensperger, Tim Gmeiner, Carolyn Livensperger, Mackenzie Brooks, Catie Gmeiner, Clayton Brooks, Peter Gmeiner and Natalie Brooks; sister-in-law Jenny Mauch (Herbert) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Lucy and Jane; her parents, Hortense and Clarence Mauch; and by her sister Helen DeLuna and brothers Don Mauch and Herbert Mauch. She was born in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Julienne High School. She married Edward Gmeiner in 1948. Hers was a lifetime of service. Following the birth of their 6th child Lucy she and Edward became founding members of the Resident Home Association which provides residential services for adults with disabilities. In addition to service with RHA, she was a member of the Montgomery County 169 board, board member for the Second Shelf, and volunteered at Hospice of Dayton, She was a member of Holy Angels Church for over 50 years. She sang in the choir until her arthritis kept her from climbing the stairs and retained a strong beautiful voice throughout her life. She instilled in her children a great sense of responsibility, service and love for music. She baked the best apple pie that any of her children have ever eaten. During the last month of her life she was provided compassionate care by the staff of the Sanctuary at Wilmington Place and Hospice of Dayton. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:30pm at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Avenue, Dayton. There will be a mass celebrating her life at the Church of the Holy Angels on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 9 AM, 223 "L" Street, Dayton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer that contributions be made to Resident Home Association or Holy Angels Church--"Angels in Education" Fund
