Elizabeth “Betsy” Lawson, age 78 of Centerville, Ohio went home to be with Jesus on March 22, 2022. Betsy was born on September 24, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio to Winthrop D. Lane and Elizabeth C. Lane of Dayton, Ohio. She was the loving wife of Robert M. Lawson for forty two years until his death in 2008. She is survived by her two children, Brad S. Lawson (Nikki) and Ann L. Prittie (Chad), and five grandchildren: Lilly, Jacob, and Noah Lawson and Ella and Grace Prittie. She is also survived by her sister Judy Perry and brother Arthur Lane.
She was a 1961 graduate of Oakwood High School, received a B.S. in Elementary Education from OSU and was a member of Chi Omega. She taught first grade in public school and later in Montessori School of Centerville.
Always seeking to serve others, Betsy was characterized by a life of devotion to God, family and friends. Her immense love for her family was never more evident than in the role of “Nana” or “Nina” where she cherished being a part of her grandchildren’s lives. She was a dedicated member of Washington Heights Baptist Church for 55 years where she was active in a variety of ministries, most notably faithfully serving in the toddler room for over 50 years. In 2018, she moved to Bethany Lutheran Village where she enjoyed friendship and volunteer opportunities.
Friends are welcome to call from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2022 at Washington Heights Baptist Church, 5650 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45429 with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Private Interment for immediate family at David’s Cemetery.
