BARLAGE, Jr., Elmer E., age 82 of Englewood passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021. He was born in Dayton to the late, Elmer E. and Hilda (Schmiesing) Barlage, Sr. Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara (Brinkman); three daughters and son-in-laws, Teresa and Steve Pahl, Christine and Brian Blue and Pam and Michel Morin; grandchildren, Tyler, Sydney, Trevor, Jessica, Sarah, Meagan, Katie, Alex, Tabitha and Branden; and eleven great-grandchildren, and many other extended family and friends. Elmer graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in Civil Engineering and went on to work with the City of Dayton for 30 years until his retirement. He was a master woodworker, craftsman and painter like his father. Elmer was the family photographer and loved taking pictures at all the family events. He was a quiet, gentle man, but he always had a “Dad joke” to share. Elmer and Barbara had 58 wonderful years together and, in their retirement, they enjoyed Western line dancing at Dayton Two-Steppers, teaching Western line dancing at Sinclair Community College, traveling all over the United States, and spending cherished time with family including their much-loved dogs Max and Ben. Elmer also enjoyed technology and custom-built several computers for himself and family members.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Wednesday, August 11 at St Rita Catholic Church. He will then be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Heart Association. Arrangements entrusted to Westbrock Funeral Home, Dayton.
