Elton E. Bornhorst died peacefully on Wednesday March 9, 2022 at the age of 85 in Kettering Ohio. He was born on June 10, 1936, in Minster, Ohio to Anthony and Loretta (Sommer) Bornhorst.
After graduating from Minster High School in 1954, he attended the Ohio State University and received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1958. He moved to Dayton Ohio and met Roselynn Bradshaw as she was attending St. Elizabeth Nursing School and they married on November 22, 1962.
Elton completed a Masters Degree in Business Administration at Xavier University in 1966. He held both teaching and administrative positions in the Mad River School District. He also worked in Montgomery County Schools and other area school districts.
Elton was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and a member of the church choir. He served as a docent at the Dayton Art Museum.
He is survived by his wife of 59 Years, Roselynn (Bradshaw), and three children,
Ellen (Jerry) Boerger, Michael (Kelli) Bornhorst and Elizabeth (Patrick) Coppinger. He had nine grandchildren, Zachery, MacKenzie, and Danielle Boerger; Alec, Lindsey, Luke and Jack Bornhorst; Lyla and Julia Coppinger. He is also survived by two sisters, Thelma Hogenkamp and Janet (Alan) Boerger. Elton was preceded in death by his three brothers, Roger, Kenneth and Melvin Bornhorst.
Elton enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, playing bridge, playing golf, and was a lifelong Ohio State Football fan. Go Bucks!
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday March 17 10:30 am at St. Charles Borromeo Church. The family will receive friends on Wednesday March 16 from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd. and from 9:30-10:30 am on Thursday at the church.
