AGNEW, Emily Kathryn [nee Bassett] age 89 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011. Born to Mark S. Bassett and Edna (King) Bassett in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was raised in Chicago and later Springfield, OH. After graduating from Springfield H.S. she attended the Dayton Art Institute and received a bachelor's degree in Fine Art. She was a well known and accomplished artist, wife and mother of five. Her works included commissions with the Dayton Museum of Natural History, Cincinnati Zoo and Cincinnati Museum of Natural History. After the death of her husband, she relocated to Southern Arizona to fulfill her dream of being a cowgirl. In Arizona she found success in her art career and personal life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Agnew. Survived by Margaret Agnew, Patrick Agnew (Carol), Jennifer Agnew, John Agnew (Patricia), Molly Roll (Greg); sister, Maxine Pierson; brother, William Bassett; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 27 at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave., Rev. Chris Coleman officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial, Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association , envelopes available at the funeral home.
