Emma V. "Vera" Rager

Rager, Emma V. “Vera”, 84 passed peacefully while surrounded by family on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at University Hospital in Indianapolis, IN after an extended illness.
Vera was born on June 18, 1932 in Baltimore, MD. For 61 years, she resided, worked and raised her family in Dayton, OH with her husband of 64 years, Norbert E. Rager, Sr. After his passing in 2015, she relocated to Indianapolis to be close to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a loving mother and grandmother with a very kind heart. She was quite the social butterfly who had no problem striking up a conversation with a complete stranger. She loved spending time with old friends playing Bingo and was always making new friends. Most of all, she cherished the quality time she spent with her family.
After retirement from the work force, she became “Nanny” to Grant and Olivia Albrecht. Both of which she loved dearly and often referred to as her adopted grandchildren.
She will be terribly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Vera is survived by her children; Norbert E. Rager, Jr. (Elaine) of Williams, IN, Cathy Caupp (Barry) of Mooresville, IN, 4 Grandchildren; Christopher “Keith” Caupp (Beth), Steven Rager (Amy), Scott Rager and Melissa Barnhart (Andy) and 7 great-grandchildren; Alex Nation, Jacob Caupp, Helton Bates, Jenna and, Devin Rager and twins Benjamin and Isaac Barnhart.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Elmer Sauers and brothers, Charles and Wilbur.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum located at 118 Woodland Ave, Dayton, OH 45409. Services will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. David Tackett officiating.
A graveside burial will follow with immediate family.
