Emmet D. “Skip” Roth, 71, Dayton, died Nov. 9, 2019 after battling chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. A Dayton native, Emmet was born Nov. 18, 1947, the eldest of six brothers, to the late Emmet U. and Helen F. (Wright) Roth. He married Deborah A. (Ross) Roth on Dec. 19, 1970 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. A proud graduate of Chaminade High School and Southern Illinois University, Emmet was a member of Incarnation Catholic Church, serving its youth group and school council, and coaching his children’s sports teams. After retiring in 2010 from a 24-year career with Ford Motor Company, he met many new friends working for Enterprise Rent-a-Car. He loved time outdoors and volunteering with Centerville-Washington Park District and Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum.
A proud, loving husband, father, grandpa and brother, Emmet never met a stranger and loved visiting with people. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dennis (DJ) and Michael Roth, he is survived by wife Deborah; son E. Ryan; daughters Erin (Peter Rusthoven) and Molly (Chris Rush); granddaughters Madeleine and Elizabeth Rusthoven; brothers Timothy, Patrick (Debbie) and Daniel (Cathy) Roth; and many nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 18, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave., Dayton. Mass of Christian Burial will Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, Dayton, with burial at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Emmet’s honor may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, or Centerville-Washington Park District.
