CASELLA, EUGENE J., “GENE” age 73 passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Stephens; sisters: Mary Latos and Grace Hinkle Tufts and brothers: Joe Casella and Sam Casella. Gene is survived by his wife of 47 years, Annette Casella; daughters: Carla (John) Hodulik and Maria (Vince) Russell; son-in-law, John Stephens; grandchildren: Jed, Paul and Charlie Hodulik, Veronica and Cecilia Stephens, Vivian, Vito and Josephine Russell and a brother, Frank (Lila) Casella and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gene was born and raised in Dayton, attended St Joseph grade school, Kaiser High School, and graduated from the University of Dayton. He served in several organizations throughout his lifetime – the Board of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor Foundation, the Development Council for St Leonard Center, the Board of Alter High School, and co-chaired the Holy Angels Parish Restoration Campaign. He was a proud coach’s corner fan for the UD Flyers and was a supportive member of the UD School of Law Advisory Council and the the UD Board of Trustees Finance Committee. Gene spent his business career in the Investment business as a Stock Broker, VP of a Brokerage Firm, and since 1972 as Vice President of Mead Adam and Co. Gene was an avid golfer and longtime member of Dayton Country Club. The family will receive family and friends Thursday, May 29th from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Holy Angels, Dayton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Angels in Education Fund, c/o Holy Angels School, Hospice of Dayton, or your charity of choice
