Evelyn A. Homan

Homan, Evelyn died peacefully Friday, August 23, 2013 at her home where she had been cared for by her devoted and loving husband, William V. Homan. Together, they faced years of Alzheimer’s with dignity and grace. They gratefully acknowledge the long and loving service of her caregivers; Rena’, Alicia, Maria, Christye, Billy Jo, Dr Jinyun Wu, and Vitas Hospice. Evelyn was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 2, 1924 to Edward Stammen and Theresa Franzer Stammen. She was raised on Virginia Ave with her brother Don (wife June) and sisters Eileen (Doorley) and Mary Ann (Walter). She attended St. Anthony’s Parish and St . Anthony’s School then graduated from Stivers High School. She often spoke of her happy childhood on Virginia Avenue and summers spent in Chickasaw, Ohio. After high school she worked at NCR in the Welfare Benefits Office. She met her husband almost 70 years ago and they were married at St Anthony Church on March 2, 1946. She was a wonderful mother to her three children; a son Jim who died in 2005 leaving his widow Melissa Homan and his children Jimmy (wife Yvette), Tony (wife Martha), Joey, and Matt (wife Gwen); a daughter Ann who is married to Dave Koepke and their children Miranda, Megan (husband Zachary Siedling); a son Tom who is married to Susie Alejandrino Homan and their children Will and Lindsay Homan. Evie also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Cora, A.J. and Alexis Homan. The Homans were charter members of Incarnation Parish, long-time members of St. Charles Parish and St. Ann’s Parish in Naples, Florida. Evie and Bill were also charter members of Sycamore Creek Country Club where Evie enjoyed playing tennis and golf with her many friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday August 27th from 5-7pm at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30am Wednesday August 28th at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Kettering. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Thank God for a life well lived, cherished by all who knew her and remembered lovingly for her kindness and good works. May she rest in peace.
