McCARTHY, EVELYN M., age 92 of Kettering passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. McCarthy and brothers: Fr. Paul Schaaf and Norbert Schaaf. Evelyn is survived by her children: Dennis McCarthy, Stephen (Nancy) McCarthy, Maureen (Richard) Pierce, Eileen (Jeff) Plummer, Cathy McCarthy and Mary Ellen McCarthy; grandchildren: Jason, Kyle, Brian, Nicholas, Tessia, Jordan, Megan, Stephen Lee and Cathleen; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Merck and brother, Fr. Don Schaaf. She was a 1938 graduate of Julienne High School. Evelyn was past president of the Dayton Catholic Women's Club, a member of the Alter Rosary Society, The Bergamo Prayer Group, Blue Army and Good Sam Camping Club. She was a longtime volunteer at St. Elizabeth's and Ascension School, helped start the Eucharistic Adoration Group at St. Albert's and was involved with Right to Life. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 16th from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Ascension, 2025 Woodman Drive, Kettering 45420. Burial will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to: Little Sisters of the Poor, 476 Riddle Road, Cincinnati, OH 45226.
