Florentine C. Brzozowski (Bochenek), our loving mother age 83, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 peacefully with family at her side. Born in Dayton, Ohio of Polish immigrant parents Alexander and Marianna Bochenek on March 13, 1931. She was a 1949 graduate of Parker Co-op High School and served in the Women’s Army Corp (WAC) during the Korean War. Florentine was a loving wife and mother with a deep Catholic faith and an active lifelong member of St. Adalbert’s Polish Church. Her joys in life were her family, living her Polish heritage and hobbies Polish cooking, quilting, weaving, gardening, bingo and fishing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter F. Brzozowski; 5 sisters Sophia Plummer, Josephine Ivory, Cecilia Bayham, Mary Lou August and twin Phyllis Palmer and 3 brothers Henry , Frank and Ralph. Florentine is survived by nine children: Phyllis Brzozowska, Connie (Bryan) Jackson, Peter Jr. (Angelica) Brzozowski, Loraine (Steve) Brzozowski-Tyma, Joe (Connie) Brzozowski, Vince (Martha) Brzozowski, Martin (Jenny) Brzozowski, Mary Beringer and Martha Brzozowski; 19 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; half-sisters Dorothy Reid, Vicki Graf, Alice Pavey, Linda Myers and half-brother Frank Slavic, and many, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The Family will receive family and friends Friday, January 30th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave., Dayton. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m., Saturday, January 31st at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 1509 Valley Street, Dayton (you are welcome to join a Rosary service at 8:50am in the Church preceding the Mass). Burial will follow Mass at Calvary Cemetery.
