Franco Germano

GERMANO, Franco, age 73 of Beavercreek, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018. He was born on January 1, 1945 in Duronia, Italy to the late, Nicolino and Addolorata (D’Onofrio) Germano. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Barbara (Kosater) Germano; children, Gina (John) McNamara, Nick (Megan) Germano; grandchildren, Abigail, Caterina, Emma, Luciano, Alexander; brothers, Pasquale (Regina) Germano, Domenico (Angiolina) Germano; many extended family and many dear friends. Franco served in the US Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 598. He has owned and operated Franco’s Ristorante & La Taverna for over 42 years. He has appeared on the Channel 2 Living Dayton cooking segment, as well on Channel 7 and Fox 45. He also taught culinary classes at Dorothy Lane Market. Franco had a passion for soccer and was an avid soccer player. He passed on this passion through coaching many youth club teams, at Carroll High School, Wright State and the University of Dayton. Franco spent his free time playing golf. He was also a big fan and a season ticket holder for UD men’s basketball, Dayton Dragons and the Cincinnati Bengals. Friends and family may visit from 4:00-8:00 pm on Monday, April 2, 2018 at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd., Kettering. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 3 at St. Anthony Parish, Dayton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Dayton.
