EHRENSBERGER, Frederick Carl age 71, of Dayton passed away Friday, July 15, 2011 surrounded by caring staff and loved ones. He was born to the late Carl and Margaret Ehrensberger on March 17, 1940 in Dayton. He was a graduate of Chaminade High School, class of 1958 and received his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University in 1962. At OSU, he played football and was an assistant coach under Woody Hayes. In 1964 he returned to his high school alma mater to teach business, coach football and baseball. In 1981, he was inducted into the Chaminade Athletic Hall of Fame. In keeping with family tradition, he entered the tool and manufacturing industry and became president of N.D.T. Industries, Inc. in 1980. Fred was an active member of various organizations including: The Dayton Tool and Manufacturing Association, serving as a past president, The National Tooling and Manufacturing Association, The Ohio Tooling and Manufacturing Association, The OSU Montgomery County Athletic Committee, Dayton COMOS and Dayton Agonis Club. He loved his wonderful family, his great friends and was an inspirational leader to all. Fred was a Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State Buckeyes and sports fan. He never missed a good book and always had a story to share. Fred is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Wanke) and mother-in-law, Virginia Kirby Albright, 6 children: William (Elizabeth) Wanke, Jill (Scott) Wells, Todd (Karolina) Wanke, John (Erin) Wanke, Julia Ehrensberger Kaufman and Lori Ehrensberger, 12 grandchildren: Aidan, Andrew & Katherine Wanke, Caroline, Connor & Cameron Wells, Karsten & Fynn Wanke, Noah Wanke, and Alyssa, Haley & Taylor Kaufman. He is also survived by his brothers, sisters and in-laws: Margaret "Peggy" (Dave) Boyko, Jim (Sue) Ehrensberger, William (Louise) Ehrensberger, Mary (Joseph) Giachino, Anne (Timothy) Glaid, John (Carol) Kirby and Barrett (Nancy) Souder and many nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Dayton Physicians LLC. for their care - especially Dr. Romer and staff. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 20th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road, Kettering. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd, Kettering.
