G. Ronald Christopher

CHRISTOPHER, G. Ronald, age 82, of Centerville, Ohio passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016. He was born on June 10, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Ralph and June (Vogel) Christopher. Also preceding him in death is his brother, Ralph Christopher. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia (Gorecki) Christopher; daughter, Beth (Mike) NeCamp; grandsons, Drew and Eric NeCamp; sister-in-law, Gerry Christopher and four nephews and their families. Ron earned a B.A. from Colgate University, an M.A. from Kent State University and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from The Ohio State University. He also served two years in the U.S. Army. Ron started his career as a public school teacher and a school administrator. He worked at Ohio State in the area of computer assisted learning before moving to Dayton and Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Here he spent over 20 years in leadership positions at AFIT in the area of educational technology. Ron was a longtime member of St. Leonard’s Faith Community where he was active in the choir and many volunteer activities. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 10215. He cherished his family, his friends and his faith. Friends and family may visit from 5-8 pm on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd., Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10: 00 am on Saturday, October 1 at St. Leonard’s Chapel, 8100 Clyo Road, Centerville. Ron will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Leonard Benevolent Fund or The Hospice of Dayton in Ron’s name.
