Gary D. Cummings

GARY D. CUMMINGS, age 77, of Centerville, passed away unexpectedly December 4, 2024. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, on February 23, 1947, the son of Carl and Margaret E. (Kibler) Cummings. 

Gary was a fan of all sports, especially baseball, softball, basketball and football. Gary was a lifelong, well-respected baseball and softball coach, starting with his children in EKRC to the Dayton Legends Senior Softball Teams. He actively participated in numerous local senior softball leagues, including Cuny / Zink and the Dayton Legends. One of his proudest accomplishments was being inducted into the Dayton Softball Hall of Fame in 2019. Gary always enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. He spent his entire career in the printing industry before his retirement in 2008. Most recently, Gary and Judy have enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with their family and close friends, especially to spring training in Arizona!

Gary leaves behind his beloved wife, Judy (Saunders) Cummings; son, Brian (Wesleigh) Cummings; step-children, Gregory (Greta) McCauley, Heather (Renee) McCauley and Lauren (Chris) Leuzinger and their families; grandchildren, McKenzie, Samantha, Natalie, Paige, Seth and Nathan; siblings, Carl (Diane) Cummings, Toye (Paul) Lopez, Dennis Cummings, Tim (Jennifer) Cummings and Tonya Cummings-Londergan, along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Mary Noreen Cummings in 2014; son, Bradley Cummings and his brother, Bruce Cummings.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 4 to 7pm in the WESTBROCK FUNERAL HOME- KETTERING, 5980 Bigger Road. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 12:30pm. Inurnment will follow in the Miami Cemetery, Corwin. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Gary’s name to the organization of your choice.
