BAUER, George Michael, age 87 of Riverside passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. God called George home to be with his only son, Thomas Michael Bauer; his parents, George and Leona (Roderer) Bauer; siblings, Richard Bauer (deceased), Vincent Bauer (deceased), Shirley Campbell (deceased), Mary Bauer (infant deceased) and surviving sibling, Ronald and Michael (Spencer) Bauer. George is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marilyn (Gauder) Bauer; 8 daughters, Debra Bauer (Dayton), Christine (Clarke-deceased) Hoover (Dayton), Janice (Mike) Bergman (Dayton), Theresa (Christopher) Greenawalt (Chardon, OH), Mary (Phil-deceased) Cooper (Franklin),Katherine (Chip) Appleton (Dayton), Susan (Rick) Knee (Springboro) Alicia Bauer (Dayton); blessed with 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and many other extended family and friends. He served in the US Army during the Korean War where he received a Purple Heart. George worked at Sohio Gas Station in Fairborn and also for Bauer Roofing & Siding as a mechanic. Friends and family may visit from 6-8 pm on Monday, August 15 at The Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave. A mass of Christian burial will be 10 am on Tuesday, August 16 at St. Helen’s Catholic Church. Interment following in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice or the Veteran’s Assoc., in memory of George.
