O'CONNELL, Gerald F. "Jerry"
Age 77 of Centerville, passed away Monday February 1, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel C. and Josephine Lair O'Connell, and his brother Daniel. Jerry is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 56 years, Elizabeth J. "Betty" Weckesser O'Connell. He is also survived by three daughters and two sons. Kathleen A. and John Lyghtel of Indianapolis IN; Karen M. and Stephen Peltier of Nashville TN; Deborah L. and Doug Evans of Colorado Springs, CO; Gerald F. O'Connell Jr. and Claire of Cincinnati, OH; and Brian J. O'Connell and Amy of Loveland, OH. He was also survived by two brothers Michael and Patrick.He was blessed with 11 Grandchildren: Christine and Catherine Peltier; Emily, Amelia, and Olivia Evans; Christopher and Caroline O'Connell; Josie, Lydia, Elizabeth, and Brody O'Connell.
Jerry graduated from Chaminade High School in 1950 where he was recently inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He graduated from the University of Dayton in 1954 where he played football. He graduated from Xavier University with a MBA. He was retired from General Motors Corp. and EDS as Manager of Data Processing after a career of 38 years. He was in the Knights of Columbus and was very active with his children and grandchildren. He was a strong and loving man who will be sorely missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 11:00AM at St. Charles Church, Kettering, OH. The family will receive friends beforehand at 10:00AM at St. Charles Church. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to St. Vincent's DePaul Society 1133 Edwin C. Moses Blvd. Dayton, OH 45417.
