Gertrude "Gay" Whelan

WHELAN, Gertrude Kelleher, “Gay”, Age 95 of Centerville, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Gay was a well-loved resident of St. Leonard’s Retirement Community for over 10 years and was a charter member of St. Charles Parish. She was married to Bob for 56 years before his passing in 2005. She was the mother of five children: Bob, Jr. (deceased) and Mary Ellen of Kettering, Dan and Barbette of Kettering, Peggy and Phil Rose of Nashville, Mike and Mary of Cleveland and Patty and Kurt Stueve of Centerville. She was the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Gay was the longest and last survivor of her generation of her Kelleher family. Mass of Christian Burial, October 31, 2023 - 10:00AM at St. Leonard’s Chapel. Entombment Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd. in Kettering on Monday, October 30, from 4:00 to 7:00 Pm or one hour prior to the Mass at St. Leonard’s Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to St. Charles School Scholarship Fund.
