PURKEY, Glen F. age 95 of Centerville was born March 20, 1917, in Bloomdale, Ohio, son of Harry Orlo Purkey and Bertha Blanch Oberholtzer of Fostoria, Ohio, died December 28, 2012. He graduated from Fostoria High School in 1935 and attended University of Cincinnati School of Engineering, graduating as an Aeronautical Engineer in 1947, after serving the Army Air Corps in World War II. He worked for 37 years at Wright Patterson A.F.B. as an aircraft structural engineer, retiring in 1979. His assignments included Chief of the Structures Division and Chief Engineer on the C-5A program. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Julia Pauline Doty Purkey of Findley Ohio, his sister, Dorothy Tarris, and four brothers, Vern, D.R., Carl, and John. He is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Margaret of Dayton Ohio, and by his two sons Tom and Bob and their wives, Shirley and Peggy; five grandchildren, Cindi & husband Hans Peterson, Jeff & wife Erin Purkey, Michael, Kelly and Susan & husband Greg Gibson; six great grandchildren, Todd, Chad and Cade Peterson; Gus, Cole Glen and Eva Pauline Purkey; and Margaret's 4 children from a previous marriage: Jerry, Glyva, Cecil, & Lavell. A service to celebrate Glen's life will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday January 2 at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial to follow services at David's Cemetery.
