It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Han Van Duong, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Han left this world peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on March 24, 2025 at the age of 82. He was a POW during the Vietnam War and fled the country by boat with his family in 1976. After a year in the Philippines, Han and his family immigrated to Austin, MN. The following year, Han moved his family to Dayton where he began his entrepreneurial endeavors. Together with his wife Thao, they opened an Asian restaurant and then became owners of Kim’s Mart, an Asian grocery store in Kettering. Han’s vision to expand the business resulted in the opening of Far East Center, a retail/wholesale business offering ethnic foods, products and supplies to restaurants throughout Ohio.
Over the years, Han developed close friendships with members of the community. He cared for people deeply and was a firm believer in doing each job well. The desire to help others naturally led him to help establish Tinh Quang Temple, a local worship center. Those who knew him know that he enjoyed playing poker, eating exotic foods and singing karaoke. Han will be remembered for his generosity, exceptional ability to fix anything and meticulous attention to detail. Han is survived by his loving wife Thao, their children Hoang & Vy along with grandkids, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews who all cherish him.
