Harry F Finke, Jr., native Daytonian passed on December 4, 2016. He was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia Halpin Finke in 1985, his son Andrew, his parents Harry F and Hildegarde Finke, his sisters Dorothy Westbrock, Ruth King, Janet Russell, brothers Robert J Finke, R Peter Finke. He is survived by his wife Carol Schneider Finke, children Harry (Leanne), Laurie Finke, David (Debbie), Stephen (Christine), MiSue Tolle (Mick), Bill (Julie), Ed (Theresa), daughter-in-law Kim Finke, Jim Schneider (Karen), John Schneider (Duane), Lois Missall, Joyce Jaden, 25 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, brother Dr. Jack Finke (Sue), sisters, Mary Ann Henz, Martha Faulhaber, Sue Schiller (Bob), Judy Finke, Fran (Bob) Karl and Peter King. Harry was a long-time member of St. Charles Parish. He is a graduate of Chaminade High School and University of Dayton and the Notre Dame V-12 Program of the Naval Reserves. As a Civil Engineer, he operated Finke Construction Co. which was responsible for building and paving numerous Dayton and suburban area streets. He was later a Chief Inspector for the Miami Conservancy District, instrumental in building the North Regional Sewage Treatment Plant and upgrading the Franklin Wastewater Treatment Plant. Harry was President of the Calvary Cemetery Assoc. for 46 years and designed and oversaw most cemetery projects. Donations can be made to the Harry & Hildegarde Finke Scholarship Fund at the University of Dayton or the St. Leonard Foundation. Visitation will be Friday December 9 from 4pm-8pm at Westbrock Funeral Home on Bigger Rd in Kettering. Funeral services will be on Saturday December 10 at St. Leonard’s Church in Centerville at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
